Kenny makes 'remarkable' Celtic claim after surprise turnaround

Paddy Kenny has hailed Ange Postecoglou after his Celtic side turned in an impressive performance against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night.

The former Leeds stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is impressed the Hoops can slum it out with top European sides again.

Celtic lost 3-2 to Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday but performed well and led with eight minutes to play.

This was a much-improved performance compared to the home tie against the German side, which the Hoops lost 4-0.

Kenny insists this is another sign of Celtic’s “remarkable” improvement under Postecoglou.

“Bayer are a good German side, they are fourth in the Bundesliga,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It shows what a good side they are and how well Celtic did to turn in a very good performance.

“Sometimes you lose games but you have to take the positives from it.

“Celtic are slumming it out with some great teams now and were winning with eight minutes to play.

“It shows how far they have come under this new manager, it was a remarkable performance and a remarkable improvement.

“Things are looking up for Celtic and I think they will try and carry that positivity into the league.

“They seem to have hit a new level over the past few weeks.”

Celtic are next in league action against Aberdeen on Sunday.

The Hoops then face a midweek game against Hearts next Thursday as they look to close the gap on Rangers.
