Kevin De Bruyne to follow Pep Guardiola in quitting Man City – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested Kevin De Bruyne could follow Pep Guardiola out the exit door at Man City.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed De Bruyne, 32, may be at the right age to move on in 2025 when Guardiola’s contract expires.
According to the Daily Mail (26 May), Man City’s famous manager is “expected to call time” on his tenure next summer.
De Bruyne is also out of contract in June 2025 and is wanted in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The Belgium international missed the first half of this season with a serious hamstring injury but notched six goals and 18 assists across 26 appearances after recovering.
De Bruyne could walk away from Man City in 2025, says Wyness
Wyness claimed De Bruyne and Guardiola are “joined at the hip” after their success together at the Etihad Stadium.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “He’s a crucial member of this squad.
“He’s certainly taken on the Pep Guardiola style and he’s one of the great disciples of his methods.
“I think the two of them are joined at the hip.
“I’m expecting him to stay at City for this season if Pep does.

“But as we’ve seen with Klopp, a few of the big players will want to go once the manager does.
“At that point, maybe De Bruyne will be at an age where it is the right time for him to move on.”
