Kevin De Bruyne will applaud crazy Rayan Cherki stat after Man City win vs Bournemouth

Rayan Cherki showcased his incredible quality during Manchester City’s statement performance against Bournemouth.

A Erling Haaland brace and a superb Nico O’Reilly strike saw Man City beat Bournemouth 3-1 to move six points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

Cherki made only his second league start for the Cityzens after impressing against Swansea City in the Carabao Cup, and the 22-year-old will have amazed Pep Guardiola.

The Frenchman created both goals for Haaland, directing a header into the Norwegian’s path for the first and breaking the lines with an excellent pass for his second.

In a star-studded City team, Cherki has had to bide his time, but this performance proved he can hold his own against the league’s best.

Rayan Cherki is only player in Europe to achieve unbelievable feat

When Kevin De Bruyne joined Napoli in the summer, Guardiola knew he needed someone to ease that creative burden.

The Belgian was a world-class creator in the Premier League for years and built up an incredible connection with Haaland.

However, losing their genius and replacing him with Cherki is looking like a masterstroke, especially after watching him look electric against the Cherries.

More impressively, Cherki’s two assists for Haaland meant he became the only player across Europe’s top five leagues to provide multiple assists across five games in 2025.

Rayan Cherki’s stats vs Bournemouth
73 minutes played
2 assists
40/47 (85%) accurate passes
6 dribbles
3 ground duels won
3 recoveries

Cherki stands alone with that remarkable statistic, and he already has the potential to become an integral player for City.

Cherki’s elite creative numbers

Speaking after the game, Haaland said of Cherki: “We all know his qualities. It is about getting the best out of everyone. Today he gave me two amazing assists. Hopefully there will be many more.”

The France international occupied the pockets of space brilliantly and produced two inch-perfect passes, something he’s done throughout 2025.

Remarkably, when comparing his metrics to other attacking metrics across Europe in the past year, as per FBref, Cherki ranks in the top one per cent for assists, shot-creating actions, and progressive passes while placing in the top two per cent for attempted passes.

Those are numbers De Bruyne himself would be proud of, and if City are to win more trophies, Cherki’s influence will be crucial.
