Kevin Phillips has claimed a blockbuster move to Celtic could be just what Joe Hart needs as he approaches the end of his contract at Burnley.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Sunderland and West Brom striker suggested the 33-year-old could be a success in Glasgow despite his lack of game time in recent seasons.
Football Insider understands that the Hoops are prioritising a move for Fraser Forster, 32, this summer but his wage demands could complicate a potential deal.
According to Chilean outlet The Times, Joe Hart, Ben Foster and Claudio Bravo are among those considered to replace the Englishman if a deal cannot be agreed with Southampton this summer.
Two-times Premier League winner Hart will be available on a free contract this summer after he revealed his £70,000-a-week Burnley deal will not be extended.
When asked by Football Insider if a move north of the border could be beneficial to the former Manchester City keeper, Phillips said: “Joe Hart has had his issues of late.
“He has not played but he is a fantastic goalkeeper. That might be the kind of move Joe Hart needs to get his career going again.
“That is a tough one because Claudia Bravo is also a quality goalkeeper.
“You would be fairly happy with any of those three if they cannot get a deal done for Forster.”
Hart has made just three appearances for Sean Dyche’s side this season, all in cup competitions.
Football Insider understands that the 75-cap Englishman is willing to take a pay cut on his £70,000-a-week wages.
