Kevin Thomson: Celtic first teamer is the biggest wind up merchant there is
By Derek Smithson
Kevin Thomson has described Celtic captain Scott Brown as the “biggest wind up merchant there is” in football.
The 31-year-old is an experienced midfielder and helped the Bhoys win a domestic treble last season, with the side going unbeaten throughout.
He has been included in Gordon Strachan’s Scotland squad to face England in a World Cup qualifier and is likely to come up against Tottenham ace Dele Alli in fiery midfield battle.
Former Rangers and Hibernian midfielder Thomson has examined the imminent battle between them and has pointed towards the character of Brown.
“It’s funny, I was just saying that to him (Brown) when we met up the other day,” Thomson told the Scottish Sun. “I hope you’re recovering well because you’re going to have to chase Dele Alli about the pitch.

“If he is better and fitter than you then you have to try to get on top of him and stop that fitness. Find a way to rough him up as such and I’m pretty sure Scotty is as good as anyone at that. Scotty is probably the biggest wind up merchant there is.”
Brown has become an icon at Celtic Park during his 10-year stay with the club and been an ever-present in the heart of the midfield.
He is renowned for his tough tackling and competitive edge, while also possessing lots of quality in possession.
The midfielder is set for a major challenge if he lines up for his country against England on Saturday at Hampden Park, with their opponents unbeaten and top of the qualifying group.
Alli, 21, is expected to be one of the major threats for England and Brown will have to be at his best to nullify his danger.
In other Celtic news, the club’s 19-year-old is desperate for a first team chance next season.
