Kieffer Moore reacts to Roberts as Burnley go two points off Sheffield United

Sheffield United striker Kieffer Moore has reacted to Connor Roberts on social media after a win took Burnley to within two points of the Blades.

The Clarets had their work cut out for them against a difficult Cardiff City side on Tuesday evening (4 March).

Josh Brownhill gave Burnley the lead in a milestone game for the English midfielder, following a cross from former Man United man Hannibal Mejbri.

Maxime Esteve was on-hand to put the Clarets 2-0 ahead, before a mistake from Man United-linked Marcus Edwards allowed Yousef Salech to halve the deficit.

Following a tense second-half, Burnley would hang on to win, and now sit third in the Championship table on 71 points.

Connor Roberts send message to Burnley fans after win

Following the narrow win over the Bluebirds, Roberts posted a photo of himself in action on Instagram, captioned: “Booootiful win infront of a big crowd”, with an emoji of a Pinocchio-style long nose, with 15,713 in attendance.

The Blades’ striker Moore, an international teammate of Roberts’ with Wales, then liked the post.

The former Swansea City defender has been a key part of Scott Parker‘s record-setting backline that has only conceded 10 goals in the Championship this season.

The Clarets were on a run of 12 games without conceding, before Salech’s goal ended that run.

Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley fighting a promotion race

Football Insider Verdict

With 11 games to go, any mistakes could be a death-blow for the three teams at the top of the Championship table.

Leeds sit top, having scored an astonishing 72 goals this season, lead the pack with 76 points, the Blades are second on 73 points, while Burnley nip at their heels, with 71 points.

Each side has already played each-other twice, placing all the pressure on the individual sides to keep pace in the final stretch of the season.

With Premier League sides interested in top talent from the Championship’s top three, this season feels like a boom-or-bust moment, as failure to get promoted could see a team get picked apart in the transfer market.

Burnley defender Maxime Esteve is attracting interest from Everton, whilst Newcastle may look to replace Nick Pope with James Trafford.
