Kieran Maguire: Arsenal have just taken ‘first step’ to takeover amid ’emotional’ Josh Kroenke claim
Arsenal confirming Stan and Josh Kroenke as co-chairs of the club is the “first step” to a full takeover at The Emirates.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the boardroom changes in North London this week.
As reported by the Daily Mail (15 March), Arsenal have announced that Josh and Stan Kroenke are now co-chairs of the club.

The father and son duo obtained 100 per cent of the Gunners in 2018, but Stan has shared a frosty relationship with Arsenal fans after their inclusion in the Super League proposals.
After the new roles were confirmed, Stan told the official Arsenal club website that the new roles “reaffirms our family’s long-standing commitment to this great club”.
Maguire believes Josh has a more “emotional” bond to the club and will eventually assume full control of Arsenal.
“Future planning and handing over the keys to a successor does take place on a slow and steady basis,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“I think this is what is happening as far as the Kroenke family is concerned.

“It also suggests that the Kroenkes are in it for the long haul, with Josh appearing to have a much more emotional investment in Arsenal compared to his father, whose relationship can at best be described at arm’s length.
“So with both now being confirmed as co-chairs, I think it’s the first step in the eventual transition of power to the younger Kroenke.“
