Kieran Maguire: Arsenal ‘in strong negotiating position’ as ‘major’ deal to be agreed

The success of Arsenal on the pitch has put them in an ‘excellent’ position to secure new commercial deals.

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ ‘major’ new deal with TCL Electronics.

The North London club announced on 30 March that they have struck a deal with TCL Electronics to become the club’s official regional consumer electronics partner.

Arsenal climbed back into the top 10 of the Deloitte Money League in 2023, with the club reporting commercial revenue of £147million – an £11m increase on the year prior.

Mikel Arteta’s side have also improved on the pitch and currently lead the Premier League table with eight games remaining in the season.

Maguire believes the on-pitch success of the Gunners will directly correlate to increased negotiating power for new commercial deals such as the TCL Electronics partnership.

Arsenal are in an excellent position to take advantage of the feel-good factor around the club,” Maguire told Football Insider.

They have a 99 per cent chance of qualifying for the Champions League and are rekindling relationships with their fanbase who are excited to see their club play against Europe’s elite.

Therefore you can see why the likes of TCL are so eager to tie up a new, major commercial deal.

It puts Arsenal in a strong negotiating position as they can attract eyeballs and that is exactly what sponsors want.

Being able to do that in a very positive environment adds to the strength of the commercial department’s position.
