Kieran Maguire: Arsenal set to sign multiple deals as record-breaking news emerges

Arsenal can sign more lucrative sponsorship and commercial deals off the back of their record-breaking shirt sales.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the financial impact of Arsenal’s shirt sale figures from last season.

As reported by Lukasz Baczek, the North London side sold 850,000 official replica shirts across the 2022/23 season.

It marked a record number of shirt sales for the Gunners since they signed their kit manufacturer deal with Adidas in 2019.

The Londoners announced last September that they have extended their Adidas deal to 2030, with the deal worth a reported £70million per season.

The renewed contract provided a £15million increase on their previous agreement with the German manufacturers.

Maguire explained that Arsenal’s impressive shirt sale figures will give the club negotiating power in future commercial deals.

“The volume of shirts sold for Arsenal helps the club in terms of their negotiations with Adidas,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

It will help them secure a higher value when it comes to renegotiating.

It also helps in terms of front-of-shirt and shirt sleeve commercial deals.

Also when it comes to other sponsorship deals, it’s one of the key performance indicators a club can offer to commercial partners to show not just the domestic value but the global value of Arsenal’s brand.

We know that Arsenal are very popular in a lot of international markets and this can help the club when it comes to signing deals and extracting maximum value from commercial partners.
