Kieran Maguire casts doubts on ‘gigantic’ Tottenham deal – ‘it could backfire’
Tottenham are holding out for a “gigantic” stadium naming rights offer but the market for sponsors is sparse.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Tottenham’s valuation of their 62,850-capacity venue.
Football Insider sources revealed on Wednesday (15 March) that Tottenham are content to wait until their reserve price is met for naming rights because of their impressive brand exposure.

It is understood that naming rights is a top priority deal for Spurs, but that the North London side does not want to rush into an agreement.
Google and Amazon are among the companies in the mix for a deal that could be worth as much as £250million over 10 years.
But Tottenham are aware of their deals with major brands such as the NFL and Formula 1 and are waiting for an even larger offer.
“Spurs are convinced that they can get a gigantic sum for their stadium naming rights,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“The renewed White Hart Lane is a state-of-the-art venue with major commercial partners and so they are sticking to their guns when it comes to pricing.
“However, in a market which is tight in regard to commercial and promotional activities, big-ticket names are being very cautious at a time when they are unable or unwilling to spend a large amount of money on sponsors and marketing.

“Wage rises are low for many staff and redundancies have been common in many workplaces.
“The optics of signing such a big deal could backfire for companies if they are suddenly hit with bad news.“
