Kieran Maguire: Celtic are hours from landing £2m-plus windfall
Celtic can still earn over £2million in Champions League prize money if they are able to beat Feyenoord on Wednesday night.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who explained exclusively to Football Insider that Celtic’s final European match still holds importance despite the club being unable to reach the knockout stages.
The Glasgow giants host current Eredivisie champions Feyenoord at Celtic Park on Wednedsay (13th December) in the sixth and final matchday of the Champions League group stage.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are guaranteed to finish last in Group E after picking up just one point from their first five group stage games, but there is still significant prize money up for grabs.
As per Uefa’s distribution model for the 2023/24 season, each win in the group stage is worth around £2.4million, while a draw is worth £800,000.
Simply competing in the Champions League this season will provide around £25million to Celtic’s finances, but a win on Wednesday evening would add to that total figure.
Maguire believes Celtic can use Wednesday night as a way to give their fans a send-off despite being eliminated from the tournament.
“A victory in the final group game of the Champions League is still worth over £2million to Celtic,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Their results over the past three or four campaigns in the Champions League have disappointed fans and disappointed those who want Scottish football to make more progress in Europe.

“So while it’s too late, it’s not too little when it comes to their final match against Feyenoord.
“Also, it’s something they can use to give a send-off to the fans who’ve supported the club through what has been another poor European campaign.“
