Kieran Maguire cites Rangers as Newcastle United fans complain at £30m deal

Kit manufacturers Castore may have an issue with their supply chain after receiving complaints from Newcastle United and Rangers fans.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Castore’s ‘numerous problems’ as a kit manufacturer.

Newcastle first signed with the British manufacturer ahead of the 2021/22 season, and their contract is not set to expire until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

As reported by Football Insider, there are private regrets among staff at Newcastle United for signing the £30million deal.

Chronicle Live have previously reported that Newcastle fans have complained about the quality of Castore’s kits, and they have previously had to release an apology to Rangers fans after facing similar complaints from the Glasgow club.

Maguire believes Castore are facing ‘teething problems’ after expanding their company very quickly in recent seasons.

Well, it’s a funny one because Castore have had numerous problems with numerous clubs,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

If you talk to Rangers fans, when they first had that contract, there were quality control issues.

And let’s face it, as football fans, we’re a fairly tolerant bunch.

So it is a surprise for football fans to actually complain that the shirts were of such poor quality.

People are paying premium prices for this and there have also been supply chain issues.

Historically, Newcastle are an expanding brand and I think the issue with Castore is going to be the supply chain.

They do have some big contracts there and they have expanded very quickly.

“Like many startup businesses, you can have teething problems if you don’t get everything logically set out.
