Kieran Maguire uncovers £21m Man United reveal amid Tottenham ‘out of this world’ claim
The Glazers have likely faced pressure from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United management team to upgrade the facilities at Carrington.
That is the view of finance boffin Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ infrastructure spend in recent years.
United shelled out £20million on improvements to Old Trafford this summer amid accusations it had long been neglected.

And according to Manchester Evening News on 20 August, the club will now turn its attention to a revamp of its training facilities.
As per figures collated by Maguire, United spent £21.1m on infrastructure projects, including upgrades at Carrington, in the last financial year.
And Maguire claims that United staff will have lobbied hard for the upcoming changes.
“They have spent in recent years,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“They were top half of the infrastructure spend table, but you’d expect them to be higher than that.
“Part of the reason they hadn’t spent on infrastructure was that they were banking on being able to monetise from Super League and Project Big Picture.
“They effectively wanted other clubs to pay for their upgrades. They have been working on these schemes for a number of years.
“But that particular ship has sailed. Therefore, the Glazers have now realised they have got to invest.

“There will be pressure coming from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s management team itself as well.
“They will know that Spurs’ facilities are out of this world, as are City’s, Liverpool’s and Chelsea’s. You’d expect Man United to be at the forefront.”
