Kieran Maguire issues ‘tremendous’ Man City verdict after behind-the-scenes reveal

Kieran Maguire has backed Man City to air another Amazon-style documentary after it was revealed cameras are following the first team this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the finance expert suggested more eyeballs on Pep Guardiola’s side would increase the club’s fanbase.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Jack Gaughan (10 August), Man City are being trailed by a two-man camera crew this year.

Former BBC producer John De Caux and Alex Cuschieri will be closely following the Premier League champions for the 2022-23 campaign, filming behind-the-scenes moments and team talks.

City were the first Premier League club to film an Amazon documentary, with their ‘All or Nothing’ series filmed during the 2017-18 season.

Maguire claimed winning the Champions League would be the best way for City to increase their fanbase.

“What Manchester City need to do is to get eyeballs taking a look at the club in more depth,” he told Football Insider. “That would give potential fans more reasons to support City.

“Make no mistake about it, City are popular in some markets. In the Asian and Middle Eastern market people underestimate their popularity because they have won the Premier League in four of the last five years.

“A documentary would be interesting. The most important thing would be to win the Champions League though.

“If they want to be seen in the same light as Real Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and so on, they have to start delivering where those clubs have won trophies. They need to add the Champions League to their tremendous achievements domestically.”

In other news, a pundit has claimed Jack Grealish could be handed a new Man City role after journalist’s transfer update.
