Kieran Maguire lifts lid on Dave King ‘mischief’ at Rangers after takeover update – ‘there’s clearly bad blood’
Dave King has taken the “perfect opportunity” to cause “mischief” at Rangers by endorsing a potential buyout from American businesswoman Kyle Fox, according to Kieran Maguire.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the football finance guru suggested it remains to be seen whether the takeover is in the “best interests” of the Ibrox club.
Speaking with supporters group Club 1872 and quoted by The Scotsman (23 November), King revealed a meeting with Fox and claimed she has a “genuine appetite to bring some serious investment into the club”.

Fox announced her intentions to acquire 75 per cent of Rangers earlier this year before eventually revising her ambitions to 25 per cent, which would still make her the club’s greatest individual shareholder.
King, who remains the Gers’ biggest shareholder at present, also revealed he is planning to oppose the re-election of incumbent chairman Douglas Park at the club’s AGM on 6 December.
He himself stepped down as chairman in 2019 after securing the Ibrox club’s future earlier in the 2010s.
Maguire claimed King will take any opportunity to cause “aggravation” to the Rangers board – having previously denounced the “stagnation” of the Glasgow giants.
He told Football Insider’s finance & governance correspondent Adam Williams: “Dave King has been making mischief since he effectively left the club.
“There is clearly bad blood between him and some members of the Rangers board.
“Any opportunity for him to cause aggravation to the board, he will take.

“The takeover bid from Kyle Fox gives Dave King the perfect opportunity to do that, as does him opposing the re-election of Douglas Park.
“I’d expect anyone who wants to be a disruptor to do as he’s done. Whether this is actually in the best interests of Rangers, that’s for others to decide.”
