Kieran Maguire: Liverpool close to ‘£100m+’ milestone after club announcement
The Anfield Road expansion will allow Liverpool to earn over £100million per season from matchday income.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who explained to Football Insider that Liverpool are looking to grow their revenue streams ahead of changes to financial regulations.
Liverpool announced via their club website that they plan to open the upper tier of the Anfield Road stand for their upcoming Premier League clash against Manchester United on December 17.

The expansion will add an additional 3,000 tickets to the general sale for the fixture with the club using it as a test for their new facilities and entry method.
The new seats will add to Liverpool’s matchday income for the remainder of the season – the Reds earned £86.8million in their 2021/22 accounts.
Maguire explained that Liverpool are eager to earn £100million per season with Uefa’s new financial regulations capping spending to a percentage of a club’s revenue.
“The expansion of the Anfield Road stand is critical for Liverpool,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“They are fully aware that changes in financial sustainability rules will be very much based on wages as a proportion of revenues.
“Therefore they are looking to improve all revenue streams.
“Anfield is sold out in it’s present form, and the majority of the new seats made available will be going to single-match purchasers who are prepared to pay far more than a season ticket holder.

“It’s also very good for the club’s hospitality arrangement, welcoming more people willing to pay premium prices for boxes.
“Liverpool need to join the group of clubs earning over £100million in matchday revenue, and this Anfield Road expansion will substantially close their gap to that milestone.“
