Kieran Maguire makes ‘spectacular’ Man United transfer claim
Man United have got it “spectacularly wrong” when it comes to making profits from player sales.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that United are trailing far behind their Premier League rivals when it comes to making profits from sales.
The Red Devils are expected to experience a busy transfer window this summer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to make his mark during his first window as owner.
Erik ten Hag’s side finished eighth in the table – the lowest the club has ever finished in the Premier League era.
As revealed by Football Insider, United are expected to have a mass exodus this summer with Aaron Wan Bissaka the latest name on a “long list” of players leaving Old Trafford.
Maguire revealed that United’s wage bill has been trimmed and they have been “competitive” as buyers, but insisted they must improve their player sales this summer.
Man United must improve player sales this summer
“We’ve seen Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea, Raphael Varane and now potentially Casemiro head for the exit which will make the club leaner,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Manchester United have always paid top dollar for players in terms of wages, and their wages to revenue figure has been exemplary.
“The problem the club has had is that they have been very competitive when it comes to buying players.

“But somebody at the club has got things spectacularly wrong when it comes to the exit door.
“The evidence of that is Manchester United having only a small fraction of the player profits compared to the likes of Chelsea.”
