Kieran Maguire: Man City sponsors ‘scared’ as new deal agreed

Commercial partners and sponsors at Man City are ‘in fear of missing out’ following the club’s great success in recent seasons.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about City’s renewal of their partnership with AXI.

The Premier League champions announced on 30 March that they are extending their global multi-year partnership with Axi, who have become the club’s official online trading partner following the deal.

The two parties launched their partnership in 2020 and have decided to extend their deal which includes a new partnership with Man City women.

City reported record revenues and £41.7m profit for the 2021/22 season, with the club citing an increase in the clubs’ wider commercial revenues.

Maguire believes City have made themselves ‘very attractive’ to sponsors through their recent success, with this latest renewal a great example of sponsors wanting to be attached to the club.

The success that Man City have had domestically has meant that they are now a very attractive proposition to commercial partners,” Maguire told Football Insider.

The renewal of their deal with AXI indicates that it is now the commercial partners who are scared of missing out rather than the club.

That puts the club in an extremely strong position.

“As for the extension to the women’s team, this can only help Man City in their overall revenue growth as there is a growing interest in the women’s game.”
