Kieran Maguire: Newcastle United £25m deal set for green light after key development
The Premier League will green light a £25million Newcastle United sponsorship deal after their qualification to the Champions League.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the credibility of Newcastle’s newest sponsors.
As reported by Football Insider, Newcastle have held talks with two Middle Eastern companies over a £25million front-of-shirt sponsorship deal.
The Magpies are now in advanced talks with Saudi Arabian company Sela over a deal to replace their current Fun88 partnership.
The valuation of their front-of-shirt deal is set to triple from £8million per season to £25million per season, raising concerns over whether or not it will pass the Premier League’s fair market value assessment introduced after the PIF’s takeover of Newcastle in 2021.
Maguire believes the Premier League will green-light the deal after Newcastle confirmed their qualification in the Champions League.

“I think qualifying for the Champions League puts Newcastle United in a great position to complete a deal for £25million,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“It is about half of the value we see at Manchester United, and still significantly less than the peer group that Newcastle want to break into.
“Ultimately, sponsors are looking for access to eyeballs, and the Premier League is the biggest game in town.
“Champions League football adds a lot more credibility that the deal is a fair value.
“With the financial and sustainability rules that are set to kick in, Newcastle will now be able to go and pay a high level of wages.“
