Kieran Maguire reveals Glazer stance after dramatic Man United development

The Glazer family will not be concerned about the plummet in stock price at Man United over the last year.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the volatile stock price of the Red Devils is not a concern.

The Glazers announced in November 2022 that they were open to exploring investment options at the club, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe successfully winning the takeover race.

Following that announcement by the Red Devils, the share price on the New York Stock Exchange rose to over $22 – an all-time high since they entered the market in 2012.

However, a year on from the announcement the stock price has plummeted around 15 percent to $19.30 as of Tuesday 12th December.

Maguire insists that the decrease in stock price – which will dent the valuation of the club and the Glazers’ shares – is not a concern as it is still higher than before the investment announcement last year.

I can tell you this, I think the share price decline over the last 12 months is not too much to worry about,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The reason for that is that there was a lot of speculative buying of Manchester United shares.

They’re still substantially higher than where they were in July 2022.

So anybody who bought them then will still be looking at a significant profit.

I think part of the reason why the price is lower than about a year ago is that many people bought the shares with the view that whoever took over Manchester United would buy all of the shares.

Now, given that only 25 percent will be bought by Ratcliffe, that means that some people are not going to get the same level of profits that they had originally anticipated.

The chances are, if you bought smartly, you’ll still be looking at a tidy return if you bought at the right time.

So it’s not something the Glazers will lose sleep over.
