Kieran Maguire reveals Man City have landed £4m – and more is on the way

Man City have earned £4million in prize money from their Fifa Club World Cup win and will also earn additional sponsor payouts.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that City’s success will also make them even more attractive to commercial partners.

Pep Guardiola’s side secured their fifth trophy of 2023 on Friday night after their 4-0 win over Brazilian side Fluminense in Saudi Arabia.

The Manchester giants now simultaneously hold five titles after also winning the Uefa Super Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

City broke the record for the highest revenue of an English club in 2022/23 with £712million after their historic treble-winning campaign.

While the Club World Cup is not as lucrative as the Champions League or Premier League, City have earned more prize money after adding to their growing trophy list.

Maguire revealed that their trophy success was worth $5million (£3.9million), but added that City will also benefit from sponsor payouts and improved commercial deals.

Manchester City have earned $5million by winning the Fifa Club World Cup,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

That’s not a bad figure for playing just two matches.

“It will also potentially trigger bonuses from sponsors as well as increase the profile of the club.

City now boast a very impressive trophy cabinet after winning the FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and now the Club World Cup.

So this is something that will be very attractive from a commercial point of view.

So the prize money earned is only around 0.8 percent of City’s overall revenue, but I think symbolically it will be very impressive.
