Kieran Maguire salutes 'massive' Rangers as they land 'significant lump sum'
Rangers will have pocketed a “significant lump sum” from negotiations with Castore ahead of their 150th-anniversary celebrations.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest commercial developments at Ibrox.
Rangers and kit sponsor Castore unveiled a long-awaited limited edition commemorative shirt to mark the anniversary on 14 October.
The kit is sponsorless and Rangers have thanked several partners for allowing the production of a kit that does not feature their branding.
As per their latest set of accounts, the Scottish champions earned over £20million in commercial income in the last financial year.
That figure is expected to rise after a full year of retail sales unaffected by the pandemic, as well as the roll-out of 150th-anniversary memorabilia.

Rangers signed with sportswear brand Castore in May 2020.
Maguire asserts that both parties will have factored in the anniversary celebrations when they ironed out the details of the deal.
“Rangers are no mugs and Castore aren’t idiots,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Both parties were fully aware that this was a significant anniversary for a massive club.
“I’m sure that will have been factored into the core negotiation figure.“
“You get a fixed amount plus a commission in a kit deal. The commission itself is generally not a huge earner for the club in a negotiation.
“But this would have definitely helped Rangers in terms of getting that significant fixed lump sum from Castore.”
