Kieran Maguire shares ‘spectacular’ Mason Greenwood verdict after Man United deal agreed

Man United have offered Getafe a 20 percent sell-on clause for Mason Greenwood as an incentive for them putting him back in the shop window.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Red Devils are ‘paying the price’ for their mishandling of Greenwood’s situation.

The 22-year-old forward completed a loan move to Getafe in the summer transfer window after United made a U-turn on their decision to keep him at Old Trafford.

Man United

As revealed by the Daily Mail, Getafe now boast a 20 percent sell-on clause if Greenwood is sold by United in future windows.

Greenwood has scored three goals and registered four assists for the Spanish side in 2023/24 since joining on loan.

Maguire believes United will look to sell Greenwood in the summer of 2024 to cash in on him before his contract expires in 18 months.

The potential 20 percent sell-on clause for Mason Greenwood for Getafe is the reward or incentive offered to them by Man United in return for them putting the player back in the shop window,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

United will be hoping to get a return on him in due course.

He still has 18 months left on his contract at United, so therefore he could potentially bring in a fee in the summer of 2024.

“I think it is highly unlikely that he will ever wear a red shirt at Old Trafford again.

This is the price Man United have to pay for the spectacular mishandling of the Greenwood situation from day one to present.
