Kieran Maguire slams ‘hustling’ Glazers as Man United takeover ‘spirals into chaos’
The Glazers have caused ‘chaos’ in the Man United takeover process by ‘hustling’ for more cash.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the dramatic events that surrounded the bidding deadline on Wednesday evening.
Potential bidders were given until 9pm on Wednesday (22 March) to submit their final bids for Man United, but it was then revealed that the Raine Group had granted bidders an extension to the deadline.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS bid and the bid from Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim were both granted an extension to help fine-tune their submissions.
Sky Sports report that both new bids are now expected to arrive before the end of the week.
Maguire believes the bidding deadline didn’t reflect well on any parties, with the Glazers only interested in squeezing as much cash as possible out of the club.
“It does appear that common business sense has been replaced by hustling – especially on the Man United front,” Maguire told Football Insider.
“The Raine Group have been briefing journalists and media partners in order to try and inflate any potential offers.
“That is their job at the end of the day – ultimately they are tasked to get the highest offers for the club from potential bidders.
“The Glazers have three interests at Man United – cash, cash and cash.

“The welfare of the club and fans comes secondary to them.
“I don’t think the bidding process particularly reflects well on anybody when it spirals into chaos.“
