Kieran Maguire slaughters ‘Frankenstein’s Monster’ after big Man United development
The Glazers have acknowledged their past mistakes at Man United by being the first Premier League club to reject the Super League.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Glazers have done the ‘bare minimum’ to try and get fans back on side.
The Glazer family were heavily involved in the creation of Project Big Picture and the initial European Super League plans in 2021, but were forced to abandon the project after backlash from fans.

The Super League project was revived this week after a European court ruling, but the Red Devils were the first English side to publish a statement declaring that they will not be taking part.
United’s statement was followed by the five other Premier League clubs involved in the initial Super League plans, while other European clubs have joined them by rejecting the proposal.
Maguire believes the Glazers were under pressure to get their Super League decision right after angering fans with their previous involvement with the project.
“After the ham-fisted way that Manchester United dealt with both Project Big Picture and the initial version of Super League, it was essential that they got it right this time,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“They had to get the message out that they weren’t interested in the revamped Super League which is essentially Frankenstein’s monster of a competition developed by A22.
“So I think what they have done is the bare minimum that could be expected.

“It won’t endear the Glazers to the fans.
“But at least it’s an acknowledgement of previous mistakes that they are trying to distance themselves from.“
