Kieran Maguire: Tottenham causing ‘huge’ Premier League jealousy with ‘intriguing’ new deal agreed

Premier League powerhouses will be jealous of the new partnership deal agreed between Tottenham and Formula 1.

That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the 15-year deal struck between the two parties.

Tottenham announced on Wednesday (1 March) that they had agreed a 15-year strategic partnership with Formula 1 with the plan of “creating apprenticeship and career opportunities for local youth”.

The partnership includes the production of a world-first in-stadium electric karting track below the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham also struck a 10-year deal with the NFL back in 2015 to host two American football games each year as they look to expand the usage of their 62,850-capacity stadium.

Maguire believes Tottenham’s latest partnership deal is further evidence of the club looking to explore different revenue streams.

I think Tottenham’s deal with Formula 1 is intriguing.

“It’s a long-term deal so you’d hope there are some potential step-ups in terms of sharing the success as well as mitigating risks.

It is further evidence that Spurs and their new stadium are trying to leverage and monetise the property assets that they own.

They made the design as flexible as possible to generate money on events other than matchday.

This is further evidence of the Tottenham stadium being a 21st-century product.

There will be huge jealousy from other big clubs looking at this project and this deal.
