Kieran Maguire: Tottenham could be about to blow Man United out of the water – Daniel Levy deserves all the credit

Tottenham could overtake Man United to have the highest matchday revenue of any Premier League team next season.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Champions League qualification could see Spurs leapfrog the Red Devils financially.

The North London club ranked eighth in the world in terms of revenue generation in the recently published 2024 Deloitte Football Money League.

Spurs generated £550million according to the study with matchday income earning the club £115million – a new club record.

Manchester United were the only Premier League side to top that figure with matchday earnings of £129million.

Maguire believes club chairman Daniel Levy deserves credit for Tottenham’s off-pitch success and financial growth.

The results from Spurs are a vindication of the long-term strategy that’s been employed by Daniel Levy,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

He has grown the club’s ability to be multifunctional and own a very attractive piece of real estate in the form of the new White Hart Lane Stadium.

That has paid off and Spurs now have the second-highest matchday revenues, only behind that of Manchester United.

In a good year – if they qualify for the Champions League – there’s no reason why they couldn’t overtake United and have the highest matchday revenue.

It’s a testament to their growth – they’ve gone from having £35million a year in matchday earnings to well over £100million.

That then improves their ability to compete in the transfer market and in terms of player wages.
