Kieran Maguire: Tottenham have smashed Premier League record as new development confirmed
Tottenham are now the most profitable club in the Premier League due to the monetisation of their new stadium.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ latest method to add to stadium revenue.
As revealed on their club website, Spurs have received planning permission for the development of a 180-room hotel on the campus of their stadium.
The North London club are currently finalising plans for the stadium blueprint before beginning construction.
The hotel will add to several methods used by Spurs to monetise their 62,850-capacity stadium since it was built in 2019.
Spurs have a £40million contract in place with the NFL, while they have also struck a deal with Formula 1 to build an underground karting track beneath the venue.
Maguire believes Tottenham’s stadium monetisation methods have made them the ‘envy’ of European football.
“Spurs continue to have a long-term strategy in terms of revenue maximisation,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“It is the envy of pretty much every other Premier League club and also elsewhere in European and domestic football.
“The hotel on the campus will assist in terms of growing revenue.
“I’m sure they will have good cost control just as they have across the rest of the business.
“So this adds to their ‘every little helps’ approach which has seen them sign lucrative deals with the NFL, Formula 1, Beyonce, stadium tours and so on.
“These are all elements that have made Spurs the most profitable club in Premier League history.“
