Kieran Maguire warns of Tottenham fan ‘outrage’ amid £15m Antonio Conte reveal

Tottenham fans will be outraged if their club has paid Antonio Conte £15million compensation as part of his sacking.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the financial risk behind Spurs sacking Conte.

The North London club announced on Sunday evening (27 March) that they had parted ways with the Italian manager after his public outburst towards the club and its players.

Football Insider sources revealed on Tuesday (28 March) that Spurs have been in contact with Julian Nagelsmann’s camp over the vacancy.

As per 90Min, Tottenham could have paid as much as £15million to sack Conte before the end of the season, when his contract at Spurs was expiring regardless.

Conte previously took former club Chelsea to court over his sack compensation and the Blues were ordered to pay him £9million after he won the legal battle.

Maguire believes it is ‘highly unlikely’ that Spurs would have handed Conte £15million compensation as it would have upset both shareholders and fans.

I consider it highly unlikely that Spurs will give Conte a £15million payoff,” Maguire told Football Insider.

It wouldn’t sit well with shareholders and it would outrage fans.

Therefore there is likely to be a lot of resistance from Tottenham.

At the same time, when Chelsea sacked Antonio Conte, he did take them to court and won the full amount.

“From Spurs’ point of view – could a change of manager make a sizeable difference in 10 games? It’s questionable.

Antonio Conte looks on during his time as Tottenham manager

Conte is not a bad coach, he is just a nutty one.

He shouldn’t be making comments like he did towards his players in a public way, but it’s a huge risk to expect someone to come in and guarantee top four.
