'He is brilliant' - Kieran Tierney blown away by Celtic player in win against Zenit

Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has admitted he has been blown away by the performances of Callum McGregor after his goal gave the Hoops a priceless 1-0 victory over Zenit in the first leg of the Europa League last 32 tie.
Tierney, who played in a more attacking role against the Russian side, hailed his Scotland international team-mate for the composure he showed in his 78th minute winning goal, as he took Charly Musonda’s pass in his stride. and hammered the ball into the net.
“I rate Callum so highly. He is brilliant. I’ve known for years how good a player he is” Tierney said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“It was a terrific, composed finish from him tonight to get us the win. It doesn’t matter where he plays, he’ll give you his all.”
McGregor’s goal was the least that the Hoops deserved, as the injury ravaged side – missing almost an entire first XI of players – dominated the match from start to finish, limiting Zenit to only one chance in the game.
The much-maligned Jozo Simunovic played well alongside Kristoffer Ajer, whilst surprise selection Eboue Kouassi dominated the midfield area.
Up-front, Moussa Dembele had his best game for months as he bullied the Zenit defence and caused them all manner of problems.
The Hoops return to action on Sunday, when they play St Johnstone, before making the trip to Russia for the second leg of the tie on Thursday.
The Hoops must be confident that they can complete the job in Russia and reach the last 16 of the competition.
