Kieran Trippier and Zirkzee react to Harry Maguire’s Man United message
Harry Maguire had a motivated message for the Man United supporters after their latest Europa League draw with Lyon.
Man United were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash against Lyon.
The match came with its share of drama, even before kick-off, as Andre Onana was involved in a social media spat with Nemanja Matic.
But it was the United goalkeeper who came under fire during the match, being at fault for both goals conceded.
Onana misjudged a dangerous free-kick that floated straight into the net to give Lyon the lead, and despite United turning the game around through goals from Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, they couldn’t hold on.
Rayan Cherki struck late on after Onana spilled a shot into his path, levelling the tie and leaving United with work to do in the return leg.
Maguire, who started the match, was unable to prevent either goal but remained upbeat despite the result. The centre-back shared a message with fans after the final whistle, emphasising the importance of staying focused ahead of the decisive second leg.

Harry Maguire continues to prove importance to Ruben Amorim amid contract uncertainty
The Englishman posted several photos from the match alongside a determined message to supporters, writing: “Half time – work to do at Old Trafford next Thursday.”
His post was met with a wave of support, with likes from goalscorer Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot and Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier among others.
The 32-year-old returned to the starting XI in United’s recent fixture against Man City, offering a timely boost for Ruben Amorim.
Maguire has quietly reaffirmed his importance to the side with consistent performances, particularly in light of United’s ongoing injury issues at the back.
Those showings were enough to earn him a short-term contract extension in January. However, some Man United fans questioned Amorim’s decision to offer Maguire an extension, with calls for a younger, long-term option to be brought in instead.
Football Insider revealed Maguire is expected to hold talks with Man United regarding his future, having only signed a one-year extension to avoid leaving on a free transfer this summer.
Ruben Amorim eyes Europa League success amid mounting pressure

Amorim has faced increasing scrutiny during his first season in charge, with United currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table.
With domestic hopes all but gone, the Europa League remains the club’s only realistic chance of lifting silverware this season.
Should the Portuguese boss manage to guide United to European glory, the mounting pressure surrounding his position could quickly begin to ease.
