Kieran Trippier: Everton should table offer to Newcastle star before transfer race develops

Kieran Trippier is set to go on the hunt for a new club this summer, and Everton could be an ideal landing ground for him.

The right-back confirmed his imminent departure from Newcastle United earlier this week, with both parties ultimately agreeing to go their separate ways upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old has been part of a huge turnaround at St James’ Park in recent years, and he has been a key figure in Eddie Howe’s transformation to turn the team into regular competitors for European qualification.

Nevertheless, Trippier will be faced with a key decision as to where he decides to take his ability next season, and it would be no surprise to see David Moyes throw his hat in the ring.

Everton’s transfer plans for the summer are set to see them target a new right-back as a clear priority, and the veteran still has all the tools to be an ideal option for them to bring in.

Trippier still has plenty to give, and as a result, a race for his signature is sure to develop at some stage in the summer, but Everton must be looking to try and beat that rush.

The Toffees have been forced to use makeshift options at right-back throughout the campaign, and that is not something that they can allow themselves to contend with again next term.

Trippier has proven in his recent performances that he still has what it takes to be an influential player in the Premier League, while his delivery and dead-ball ability make him a huge creative threat.

It is almost inevitable that he will have plenty of offers on the table this summer, both in England and abroad, but Everton should be doing everything they can to get in early and make him an offer that he can’t refuse.

His experience could be invaluable when it comes to heklping them reach the next level as a team, and a one or two year deal would also be relatively low commitment for them long-term.

Trippier a better option for Everton than Ben White

Everton have been linked with Ben White again in recent weeks, after also showing an interest in the Arsenal defender during the January window.

The 28-year-old is undoubtedly an appealing option for the Toffees given his credentials as part of a team that have regularly competed at the top of the Premier League, but Trippier’s availability could potentially alter things.

The veteran arguably has more strings to his bow on the pitch than the current England international, who has suffered from a severe lack of regular football in the Premier League this season.

With that in mind, it could be argued that Trippier, who is still a regular starter despite his age, is a better option to target this summer.
