Kieran Trippier shares two-word ‘Union’ message after link-up with Rangers star

Newcastle United players past and present were in attendance for a Dubai-based training camp ahead of the new season.

The Magpies learned who they’ll face and when in the Premier League next season after the full fixture list was released on Wednesday (18 June), with a trip to Aston Villa on the cards first for Newcastle.

Eddie Howe‘s side will also have Champions League football to contend with next term after their fifth-placed finish in 2024–25, after they edged out none other than Villa via goal difference on the final day.

Newcastle have begun their preparations for a jam-packed campaign on multiple fronts with the signings of Antonio Cordero and Vakhtang Salia already confirmed, but pre-season preparations are also ongoing.

Trippier and Tavernier join ‘Right-back Union’ .

Like most clubs, Newcastle will call their squad back for pre-season training in the first week of July, ahead of friendlies against Celtic, Arsenal, a combined K-League XI, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.

Kieran Trippier has aimed to get a head-start prior to pre-season though ahead of his fifth campaign at St. James’ Park, as reports over his departure circulate after a collapsed move to Galatasaray in January.

Trippier shared a message from Dubai-based fitness coach Jamie Woollard on his Instagram story (19 June), after he was pictured with former Newcastle player and current Rangers captain James Tavernier.

As the pair trained together, Trippier shared the message “RB UNION”, as Woollard highlighted that both ply their trade at right-back.

Newcastle, Rangers exits on the cards for Trippier and Tavernier

Football Insider Verdict

Rangers face an earlier start to the new season than most clubs with up to four rounds of Champions League qualifiers, and will take on Greek side Panathinaikos in the first of those as early as 22 July.

It remains to be seen if the Light Blues will line up with Tavernier next season though, after Football Insider revealed back in April that Rangers owners 49ers Enterprises are “open” to selling their captain.

Trippier could also be set for the exit door alongside the likes of Callum Wilson at Newcastle, and with clubs across Europe keen on the veteran, it’s unclear where this “right-back” union will end up next.
