Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: ‘Top clubs lining up’ to sign Chelsea star

Chelsea star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has attracted interest from a number of top clubs who are keeping a close eye on his situation.

This is according to former Man United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the midfielder’s potential availability has put clubs on alert.

The 26-year-old has made featured in just ten of a possible 18 games this season, with just three of those appearances coming in the Premier League.

He has also been left out of the squad entirely in five of the last six league fixtures, playing a combined 43 minutes across his three league appearances.

As a result, clubs including Aston Villa have been keeping a close eye on his situation and could look to draw him away from Stamford Bridge.

Dewsbury-Hall has been part of what is a secondary Chelsea XI, largely featuring in European and domestic cup fixtures, but wants to play regular first-team football.

Brown expects clubs will be “lining up” to land his signature in the January transfer window should he become available, but with four and a half years remaining on his contract, Chelsea still hold the cards.

Chelsea to make Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall exit decision

Football Insider revealed on 15 November that Chelsea are reluctant to strengthen rivals in the transfer window and would block a potential move to Aston Villa.

Brown, who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period and has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment, has insisted that Dewsbury-Hall could be tempted to leave and has no shortage of options.

I feel sorry for the situation he’s in at Chelsea,” he told Football Insider.

“The issue in his position is Palmer, who has obviously come in and done so well there.

“He plays the sort of hybrid attacking midfielder/winger role, which is where I’d suggest Dewsbury-Hall would be playing otherwise.

“But he’s a player who would do a job for the majority of Premier League teams, even the top ones.

“From what I hear, clubs will be lining up to sign him if he does become available.

“Whether Chelsea are willing to let him leave or not is a different question, but even if it’s just on loan, there will be no shortage of interested sides.

“I rate him highly and he’ll have no issue finding a club and playing regular football if he’s given the opportunity to do so.”
