Kieron Bowie spotted at Scottish Airport as Celtic and Rangers transfer race concludes
Celtic and Rangers target Kieron Bowie is on his way out of Edinburgh ahead of a transfer away from Hibernian before next Monday’s deadline.
Celtic and Rangers have been locked in a battle to sign Hibs star Bowie for the last few weeks amid some strong form for the Scottish capital side.
The 23-year-old striker has registered nine goals and three assists in 30 appearances so far this season, while his performances have also earned him two Scotland caps so far.
Football Insider revealed at the start of the January window that both Old Firm sides had registered their interest in a deal for Bowie.
Both clubs are in need of added firepower in a title battle with Hearts, but Bowie has been backed to move abroad instead of to Glasgow, and he is now closing in on a move to Serie A.
Kieron Bowie is leaving Edinburgh to sign for Hellas Verona
Reports of Hellas Verona’s interest in Bowie have emerged over the last week as they seek to add more attacking depth in their battle to avoid relegation from Serie A.
According to a new report from Sky Sports, the 23-year-old has been filmed arriving at Edinburgh Airport before he jets off to sign terms and undergo a medical with the Italian club.
Bowie is expected to cost Verona around £6million, with Celtic and Rangers both missing out on his signature despite continued interest up until the latter stages of the January window.
Rangers could beat Celtic to Joel Piroe’s signature due to Leeds links
Both Old Firm clubs want to bolster their respective forward lines before the window closes next Monday, with Hibs’ arch-rivals Hearts still leading the way at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic have eyed a January move for Leeds striker Piroe, as a result, with his opportunities limited at Elland Road this season, despite winning the Championship golden boot as they won promotion last term.

Their approach was shrugged off by the Whites’ hierarchy, however, as they also own Rangers and have no plans to aid such a huge rival.
Sources have since told Football Insider that Piroe could instead join Rangers soon if they fail to sign other main targets, such as Bowie, but a move could also depend on Leeds signing a new forward to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
