‘Killing this team’, ‘Worst player on the pitch’ – Rangers fans slaughter Todd Cantwell after display against Aberdeen
Rangers fans have savaged Todd Cantwell after his “hopeless” performance in the Viaplay Cup final against Aberdeen.
James Tavernier’s second-half strike made Rangers fans go crazy at Hampden Park in the 1-0 win which secured Philippe Clement his first piece of silverware at the club.
The disaster of the opening weeks of the season under Michael Beale is well and truly behind the Ibrox faithful after the cup win and Celtic’s defeat to Hearts on Saturday (16 December) which affords the Gers the chance to go top of the table.
However, Cantwell was far from a highlight for any Rangers fan after he lacked any cutting-edge and struggled to show the class that has endeared him to supporters in the past.
The elation of winning silverware will likely see fans forget his “useless display”, but they have taken to social media to hound out the misfiring midfielder.

One fan blasted Cantwell and two other Rangers men as “passengers” in the tie.
One hammered his “poor” outing and wanted him off the field. Luckily for this fan, he was hauled off by Clement in the 82nd minute for Sam Lammers.
This supporter felt that the side would have proved much more effective if Cantwell and Borna Barisic were on the bench.
One fan was very apologetic to let fellow Gers supporters know that Cantwell was dropping “yet another” stinker.
