Kion Etete: Tottenham starlet set to agree deal ahead of joining new club next season – Insider

Kion Etete will be loaned to a Championship club next season instead of being part of the Tottenham first team.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Etete, 20, has scored twice and assisted three goals since joining Cheltenham on loan in January.

The striker joined Northampton on loan in the summer of 2021 but was recalled early after picking up an injury.

Wenham insists any calls for Etete to be involved with the Spurs first team next season are premature.

He also claims the striker will be offered fresh terms in the summer with his current deal set to expire in June 2023.

“He’s really settled in and it looks like he has found some form,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There have been some fans who are now talking about his potential involvement with Tottenham next season.

“That is really premature for me. He has made great progress this season.

“He established himself in League Two and he’s now made the jump to League One.

“I think the plan now will be to give him a new contract in the summer then find a Championship side for him to join.

“He can continue his development in the Championship. I think anything else is way too soon.”

Etete scored six goals for Northampton during the first half of the season.

He has made 30 appearances across his two loan spells this term.
