No deadline-day deal for 20-year-old Liverpool defender – report

Connor Randall will not be moving to Preston on loan in a deadline-day deal, according to a report.

The Daily Mail transfer blog on Wednesday (11.20am) has claimed that the German manager won’t allow the 20-year-old right-back to leave Anfield, as he needs cover for Nathaniel Clyne.

The youngster was wanted by Preston manager Simon Grayson on loan for his Championship side.

Randall made seven senior appearances for Liverpool last season, after he made his debut under Klopp in the Reds’ Capital One Cup match against Bournemouth last October.

The Anfield side have already allowed right-back Jon Flanagan to leave the club this summer, as he looks to recapture his previous form at Premier League new boys Burnley on loan.

Youth graduate Andre Wisdom also looks set for a loan move at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

This has left the Merseyside squad with just Clyne, 25, and Randall as their right-back options and Klopp looks unlikely to make a deadline-day move for a new defender.

Liverpool have brought in £65million worth of talent this summer, which includes attacking duo Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum joining from Southampton and Newcastle respectively.

Meanwhile, the club have racked up £70million in outgoings with Chrisitan Benteke and Jordan Ibe both leaving for eight-figure fees.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds have not made a bid for Brazilian star Luan.
