Liverpool could not hang on to beat Spurs, as Harry Kane’s last minute penalty meant that the spoils were shared between the two clubs.

Red hot Mo Salah took advantage of a misplaced pass early on from Eric Dier to put the Reds up 1-0, and barring a low driven shot by Mousa Dembele, Spurs never offered anything before half-time.

Mauricio Pochettino opted to not make any changes at half-time which did not help the Spurs cause immediately, but a 79th minute substitution changed the game.

Pochettino brought on Victor Wanyama, who scored an absolute belter to level the score, before Mo Salah scored an injury time goal to all but seal the points.

However, having already missed one penalty, Spurs were awarded another in the dying minutes, which Harry Kane scored to tie the game.

The result means that Liverpool are now in third place in the Premier League, five points clear of Tottenham, who reside in the fifth spot.
