Kobbie Mainoo issues update prior to crucial Man United clash after absence
Kobbie Mainoo has taken to social media prior to Manchester United’s season-defining clash with Lyon in the Europa League.
Last week in the first-leg, Andre Onana did little to hit back at Nemanja Matic’s claims that he is “one of the worst goalkeepers” in the club’s history as he made two calamitous errors.
Leny Yoro scored his first goal for Man United prior to Joshua Zirkzee finding the net with just minutes to go, however after Onana fumbled the ball into Rayan Cherki for a late equaliser it meant the scores finished level.
Ahead of the crucial clash, Mainoo will be looking to build up his rhythm and fitness, having recently missed seven matches through injury.

Mainoo has only managed 1,671 minutes for Man United this term and after suffering an injury which ruled him out for a number of weeks faces an uphill battle to regain his place under Amorim.
In the first-leg, the Portuguese coach opted for the experience of Casemiro alongside the familiarity of Manuel Ugarte, having played under him at Sporting Lisbon.

However, this duo’s distinct lack of mobility and at times technical quality could see an opening for Mainoo to secure his position in the team in the long-term.
The aim for the young midfielder now is to build up consistent playing time before the end of the season before hopefully gaining the trust of Amorim next year.
