‘Sorry, deal with it’ – Kobbie Mainoo transfer verdict emerges live on air
Man United have been backed in their position to block a January exit for out of favour midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo wants to leave Man United for more game time in January in a bid to force his way back into England contention.
However, Ruben Amorim is reluctant to let Man United players leave in January due to the African Cup of Nations which will see key players depart for up to a month on international duty.
Mainoo had broken into the first team under Erik ten Hag, and was part of England‘s Euro 2024 squad, before Amorim’s arrival changed the 20-year-old’s fortunes at Old Trafford.

Jamie O’Hara tells Kobbie Mainoo to ‘leave’ Man United
Speaking to Sky Sports, [13 November], former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Mainoo needs to be knocking on Amorim’s door to earn more chances at the club to prove his worth.
“No he [Thomas Tuchel] is not having him [in the England squad] because he’s not playing for Man United,” O’Hara said.
When asked what he would do if was Mainoo, O’Hara commented: “I’m gone. Man United are looking after themselves and their interest. If we get injuries, Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes we need players in the squad.
O’Hara was pressed on how Mainoo can get out of his current situation at Man United: “That’s on him, he needs to step up and do better, if you’re not getting a chance you need to knock on the door.

“If you can’t get out on loan and he’s [Amorim] not willing to let you leave at the end of the day it is what it is.
“He wants to play for England and if he gets the opportunity to play for Man United he’s got to perform, get himself back in the team and if the manager ain’t having you, you need to try and leave.
“You’re under contract you can’t just leave so if you they’re not getting to let you leave then as a player sorry suck it up and deal with it.
“Man United are not there as a charity to get Kobbie Mainoo into the England squad.”
Mainoo gathering Premier League interest
Three Premier League club’s have been told they should sign Mainoo either permanently or on loan in the January transfer window.
Mainoo’s hopes of appearing at a second major tournament for England looks very unlikely to be at the 2026 World Cup under Thomas Tuchel.
The midfielder has not had regular game time, and faces a stack of options in-front of him in the pecking order.
