Kobbie Mainoo sends heartfelt Man United message amid Old Trafford exit links
Kobbie Mainoo has sent a message to a Manchester United teammate as rumours of his potential Old Trafford departure continue to arise this summer.
Mainoo struggled to make an impact under Ruben Amorim last season as the Red Devils finished a lowly 16th in the Premier League.
His Old Trafford future has been made uncertain due to the club’s possible need to sell players for pure profit this summer, which he would represent as a product of their academy.
Former club scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in March that United would prefer to sell Mainoo to an overseas team this summer amid interest from Chelsea in his signature.
Brown then revealed to Football Insider in May that the Red Devils are prepared to accept offers for Mainoo ahead of next season, with Amorim happy to sell the 20-year-old as he does not fit into his long-term plans.

Mainoo sends birthday message to United teammate Amad
The England international remains a United player for now, and talkSPORT recently claimed that he would prefer to stay at Old Trafford beyond this summer, but the decision may well be out of his hands.
Mainoo recently sent a message to fellow exit-linked teammate Alejandro Garnacho on his birthday, and he took to his Instagram story on Friday, 11 July, to do the same for Red Devils winger Amad Diallo, posting a picture of the pair with the caption: “Amad day” with a red heart emoji, as well as another message stating: “Happy birthday bro” to commemorate his 23rd birthday.

Man United look to sell Mainoo for PSR purposes
Football Insider verdict
English football has been dominated by Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in recent years, and despite their high off-field revenues, United are no different to the rest in that regard.
iNews recently reported that the Red Devils are open to selling star man Bruno Fernandes this summer, but if he stays put, it will “almost certainly” mean that Mainoo leaves, as he is a sellable asset who has interest from across Europe.
Mainoo has been reluctant to sign a new contract, according to The Guardian, and so it does feel like his departure is on the horizon, whether that be this summer or the next.

Leaving his boyhood club would be a shame for Mainoo, but also could massively benefit his career due to his talent and potential that saw him included in England’s starting eleven at the 2024 European Championships on numerous occasions.
Numerous young English players have gone to play abroad and thrived in recent years, and his effortless style of play would surely make him a great fit in La Liga or the Bundesliga, with a decent move then also potentially thrusting him into Thomas Tuchel’s plans ahead of next year’s World Cup.
