Kobbie Mainoo sends heartfelt message to Alejandro Garnacho amid Man United exit links

Kobbie Mainoo has sent a message to Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho amid widespread transfer interest in the winger this summer.

Mainoo and Garnacho have been teammates at Old Trafford for a number of years, having both joined the club at different stages of their respective youth careers before moving on to play for the senior team.

Both players struggled to make an impact under Ruben Amorim last season, as the Red Devils finished a lowly 16th in the Premier League, and the Argentina international looks set to depart this summer as a result.

Former United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in May that Amorim is set to force Garnacho out of Old Trafford this summer, while Football Insider have revealed that Garnacho is still in high demand despite a bust-up with Amorim that saw him sit out of the Red Devils’ final day clash against Aston Villa.

Mainoo sends Garnacho message as Chelsea, Villa and Tottenham circle

Football Insider revealed back in January that Chelsea were interested in a deal for Garnacho, and the Blues remain wanting to sign him this summer with Villa also interested.

Former scout Brown has told Football Insider that Tottenham are also preparing to make a move for Garnacho soon, but he remains a United player for now with two months until the transfer window closes.

The winger turned 21-years-old on Tuesday (1 July), and his birthday has been met with numerous shows of support, with United posting an official message to him to commemorate the day.

Garnacho’s long-time teammate and friend Mainoo also decided to send him a heartfelt message, as he took to Instagram stories to say: “Happy birthday brother” with a heart emoji, alongside a picture of the pair celebrating.

Football Insider verdict

United’s dismal 2024/25 campaign was compounded by a defeat to domestic rivals Spurs in the Europa League final, during which Garnacho started on the bench and only came on as a substitute for the last 20 minutes.

Garnacho caused uproar among United fans recently for wearing a Villa shirt with ‘RASHFORD 9′ on the back, following his Red Devils’ teammates’ recent spell under Unai Emery, and it seems he is heading for the exit door alongside the England international this summer.

Another Red Devils forward is also set to be on the move soon, with former scout Brown telling Football Insider that Juventus are the latest club to express an interest in signing Jadon Sancho ahead of next season.
