‘Kobbie Mainoo set for £40m Man United transfer to Serie A team’
Man United academy product Kobbie Mainoo has an uncertain future at the club amid speculation over his contract situation.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (12 March) that Man United have not given up hope of keeping Mainoo despite a standoff over a new deal.
It has been widely reported that the 19-year-old is ready to reject the offer of a new Old Trafford contract and seek a move overseas.
Mainoo’s current deal is set to run until June 2027 – with the club holding an option to extend his contract a further 12 months.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested he will be valued at around “£40million” this summer.

Mainoo should follow McTominay to Italy, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Mainoo would be well-suited to a Serie A move in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The teenager has made 25 appearances across all competitions this term but is currently sidelined with a muscle injury.

Wyness suggested staying in a “struggle” at Man United would be bad for the England international’s development.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think he will command a decent price.
“I’m thinking around the £40million mark for him, he’s the right age and he’s shown his talent.
“Within the right squad, I think he would develop very well.
“I think it would do him well to be away from the Man United circus and he will kick on to be a good talent.
“United probably need the money. For him to struggle over the next couple of seasons would be bad for his development.
“If he can, he should push to get a move.
“Certainly, I think Italy would suit him very well – following players like McTominay and Billy Gilmour.
“A team in Serie A would suit him very well, and that’s where I think he may be heading.”

Man United in pole position to sign teenage sensation
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (11 March) that Man United are leading the race for Juan Gimenez – Rosario’s teenage centre-back sensation.
United are exploring the South American market as they look to land top talent to bolster their squad.
Gimenez has emerged on United’s radar after catching the eye of Old Trafford scouts.
The Red Devils have signed the likes of Diego Leon, Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi-Martin in recent transfer windows – and completed a big-money deal for Leny Yoro last summer (2024).
