Kobbie Mainoo stance on signing new Man United deal revealed after big development – sources

Kobbie Mainoo is ready to pledge his future to Man United and sign a bumper new deal at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 March) that United are in advanced talks with the 18-year-old midfield sensation over a potential renewal.

Mainoo only signed his last deal in February 2023 and is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2027 with an option for a further 12 months.

But the England Under-19 international has become a key man in Erik ten Hag’s midfield since his return from injury and was outstanding in the famous 4-3 win over Liverpool on Sunday (17 March).

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that all parties, including Mainoo and his representatives, are “confident” a deal can be agreed and signed in due course.

Mainoo and Man United ‘confident’ over securing new contract

It is believed club chiefs have been blown away by the teenager’s recent development and want to reward his progress with a mega-money new contract.

Mainoo is now a key part of Ten Hag’s side and has started in the last 12 Premier League fixtures amid 20 appearances in all competitions this term.

He had made just three senior appearances before the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

Mainoo has chipped in with two goals this term – the latest of which was a dramatic last-gasp winner away at Wolves in February.
