Kyle Walker exit: Finance expert reacts to ‘very odd’ Man City transfer latest
Stefan Borson has reacted to news around Kyle Walker’s imminent departure from Man City after eight years of service as “very odd”.
Walker has been linked with a move to away from the Etihad and fans reacted angrily after it was confirmed the City captain had asked to leave the club.
The City right-back is now seemingly close to a surprising move to Italian giants AC Milan, in a deal that the seven-times champions of Europe are looking to complete in the coming days.
Notably, former AC Milan legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now a senior adviser at the club, has been influential in the move being possible.
Borson responded to Mike McGrath’s post on X, detailing the ins-and-outs of the move, he stated that the decision to potentially give the former Sheffield United man a two-and-a-half-year contract was “very odd” due to his age and lack of form.
Pep Guardiola is moving quickly to repair his Man City squad in the January transfer window
Football Insider opinion
City have moved quickly to refresh a floundering squad that finds themselves sixth, with only 10 wins from 20 Premier League games, despite winning the title last year.
Walker has been at City since signing from Tottenham in 2017, and has played a major part in their ascendancy to the throne of English football, but the club are now looking to replace him this January.
This season has been a difficult one for Walker as he has been exposed defensively and has only started nine games in the league, his struggles have been representative of the problems at the club as a whole.
John Stones and Phil Foden have missed major time after representing England at the European Championships in the summer, and Balon D’or winner Rodri is expected to miss the rest of the season due to injury.
Erling Haaland has also looked tired and out-of-form (in relation to his usual standards) lately as the only striker in the squad after the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, for £82million in the summer. [Sky Sports]

As a whole, the City squad look off-the-pace and reinforcements are expected in January to give Guardiola the boost he needs for a title charge.
Omar Marmoush now looks to be on his way to Manchester, from Frankfurt, in a deal that Borson has described as finalised.
The Sky Blues are also looking for defensive reinforcements, due to John Stones’ fitness problems this season, and look set to beat out Spurs for the signing of Abdukodir Khusanov.
In other news, Borson gave this update on Man City’s 115 charges.
