‘Kyle Walker update after Fulham approach Man City star’

Fulham have been identified as one of the clubs to have made a move to sign Man City right-back Kyle Walker in this summer’s transfer window.

After struggling for Pep Guardiola’s side during the first half of the season, Walker was loaned out to AC Milan in the January transfer window.

However, the Serie A side decided against signing the right-back on a permanent deal this summer, meaning as things stand, the 35-year-old is due to return to the Etihad this summer.

Even so, Football Insider has been told that Walker has “no way back” at Man City even with his loan spell in Italy now at an end.

Kyle Walker too expensive for Marco Silva’s side

According to an update from The Sun, Fulham have enquired about signing Walker during the transfer window.

However, it is stated that the Craven Cottage club are unable to afford the Man City right-back’s salary demands.

As a result, Marco Silva‘s side now look to be out of the race to sign the England international, as they continue to search for their first signing of the summer.

Fulham update is not the worst outcome

Football Insider Verdict

Amid a quiet start to the transfer window, there may be some frustration at Fulham that they have missed out on this signing.

Indeed, with Kenny Tete currently due to be out of contract at Craven Cottage at the end of this month, there may well be a need for a new right-back before the start of next season.

Even so, it should be remembered that things simply did not go right for Walker in the Premier League last season, and he struggled again in England’s recent friendly defeat to Senegal.

So while a new right-back could well be needed by Fulham this summer, there is a case to be made that the Man City man would not be the best option to fill that void.

At 35-years-old, Walker would certainly not be a long-term solution in that position for the Cottagers either.

With that in mind, there does seem to be better options out there that Fulham can target for the new campaign, at a more affordable price.
