La Liga expert makes 'big' Emery claim after Sky reports Newcastle manager twist this morning
Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Unai Emery as Newcastle United’s search for Steve Bruce’s successor intensifies.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, said Emery, 50, would bring an attacking brand of football to St. James’ Park.
Speaking this morning, Keith Downie told Sky Sports, the new owners want Unai Emery to be their new manager and believe he wants the job.
Downie’s report comes after Guillem Balague claimed last night that the Villarreal boss will reject their offer to manage the Magpies.
Campbell is adamant Emery would be a success at St. James’ Park if he is given funds and control.
“I think the fans would really take to Emery,” he told Football Insider.

“I think he’ll get that team winning. That is the key at the end of the day, winning football matches.
“Wherever he has gone he has done a good job, even at Arsenal. If he is given the right funds and the players he wants, he will get results. He is a really capable manager.
“The other big thing is, he will introduce a style of football the fans will enjoy watching. When you look at him at Arsenal, they were free-scoring with him.
“He just didn’t have the players to truly succeed. With the deep pockets that Newcastle have now? Ooh, let me tell you, this could be a really interesting one.”
