Signing Musonda is great, but Celtic have failed to address two key problem areas

There has been a lot of talk in the January transfer window about Celtic signing a new creative player, with Chelsea’s Charly Musonda seemingly earmarked for the role.
However, two areas of the park which seem to be ignored are ones in which the Hoops find themselves worryingly short of options – namely the full-back positions.
At left-back, Kieran Tierney is in danger of burn out as he has played so many games this season, and if he gets an injury it’s a big problem for the Hoops as the only other option is Calvin Miller, who is a converted winger who has only played twice this season.
Meanwhile at right-back, the problem is a question of form. Mikael Lustig was dropped from the first-team squad to play Hibernian after a poor performance against Partick, and his supposed replacement in the squad, Cristian Gamboa, hasn’t played for the Hoops since October.
The Hoops are in danger of leaving themselves vulnerable at these positions particularly against an opponent like Zenit who the Bhoys face in the Europa League in February.
Brendan Rodgers would be well-advised to bring in a couple of signings, even loan deals, before the transfer window closes to give the Hoops more options in two very important positions of the team.
