‘He’ll have a great chance’ – Lallana shares Klopp one major asset in Liverpool transfer talks

By Aramide Oladipo

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana believes that manager Jurgen Klopp will be able to attract the best players regardless of whether the Merseyside club qualify for the Champions League next season – due to his charismatic personality.

The Reds have the chance to guarantee a place in the top four with a win over Middlesborough on the final game of the Premier League season at Anfield.

Speaking in an interview with the Liverpool Echo, Lallana stated that although qualifying for the Champions League would indeed help, he claimed that having Jurgen Klopp at the helm would be enough to encourage any player to join the club.

“Getting in the top four certainly enhances our chances of attracting top names,” he said.

“There’s a really good core in the squad here so it’s about building around it. We trust the boss, the recruitment staff and the owners. I am sure the funds are there and the manager will have his targets.

“I’m convinced that if the manager meets a player then he’ll have a great chance of getting him.

“He’s got that ability to charm a player and makes you feel that you want to play for him. It’s a good asset for Liverpool to have going into the summer.”

Even without any European football this season, Jurgen Klopp was still able to attract the likes of Saido Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and Loris Karius to the club in the last summer transfer window.

The 49-year-old German manager has gained a positive reputation over the years in Europe as he led his Borussia Dortmund side to back to back Bundesliga titles from 2010-2012.

Klopp also guided Dortmund to the Champions League final in 2013 where they were defeated by fellow German side Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium.

The German manager has been very close to bringing success to Anfield but he failed in two cup finals last season, losing to Manchester City in the League Cup and also falling short against Sevilla in the Europa League.
